Standard Hotel

The Standard Hotel is a group of lifestyle hotels, otherwise known as boutique hotels. They are located in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Like other boutique hotels, these are rather chic and have personalized service. Their hotels are relatively smaller than the mainstream hotel chain. That is indeed characteristic of design or lifestyle hotels which only have around three to 50 rooms.

Beginnings

The first ever Standard Hotel was established in 1999 on the Sunset Strip in California. Its hip furnishings and decor became an instant sensation complete with the distinctive upside-down logo. The Andre Balazs Properties opened the hotel and they still run it today. Right across the street from this hotel you will find Chateau Marmont.

Other than the avant-garde decor, the people who originally invested in the Standard Hotel were also resounding names. Names like Benicio del Toro, Leonardo DiCaprio, D’Arcy Wretzky, Cameron Diaz, and James Iha can cause quite a stir. Well, we’re used to seeing such names on the big screen. Having these names come up as the investors is another attention grabber.

Standard Hotel Hollywood

You’ll find this hotel on 8300 Sunset Boulevard. The rooms range from budget to a full suite. Budget rooms are at $160 while large rooms are around $215. A suite on the other hand will have its rate around $300. Prices and rates for all Standard Hotels will be based for single or double occupancy. Like other mainstream hotels, these said rates may be subjected to change. So it will still be advisable to call the hotel in advance before making any reservations.

This boutique hotel has a restaurant open 24/7. You get great views at the cactus lounge and along the poolside. The cactus lounge is open for casual dining from 9am to 2am. Hanging out on the pool deck gives guests a stunning view of Los Angeles. It is usually open from 9am onwards. On the other hand the Purple Lounge is an exclusive dim lighted bar and lounge that caters to an illustrious crowd.

Standard Hotel Downtown LA

This hotel is located on 550 South Flower at Sixth Street. The rooms range from Medium to Bigger Penthouse with rates that range from $245 to $1,300 for the Penthouse. This hotel also has a 24/7 restaurant. Other than that you’ll also be treated to a lively rooftop bar. The lobby lounge has a bit of a corporate aesthetic appeal about it.

The Standard Hotel Miami Beach

This hotel is located on 40 Island Avenue. The rooms range from Missionary to Full Spread with rates that range from $239 to $539 for the Full Spread. You’ll be treated to a Mediterranean diet in the Lido Restaurant that opens for business starting at 7am and is open seven days a week. The hotel also has a spa, yoga classes, and a Center for Integral Living.

Standard Hotel New York

This hotel is located on 848 Washington at 13th Street. Rooms in this hotel range from Standard Queen to Empire Suite with rates that range from $195 to $1,800 for the Empire Suite. You will be served breakfasts at the Standard Grill from 7am with lunch and dinners served onwards. The Living Room is the hotel’s lounge, which is modishly designed and serves guests seven days a week. Now, if you’re craving for something German then head off to Biergarten with their fine sausages served from 4pm to 12am.
